About

Hey there! I’m Kristina and I’m behind TheStoryofClothes.com. I live in Montreal, Canada and love this city immensely. I enjoy well-made soy cappuccinos (served in a reusable mug, of course) and I feel strongly about taking action to counter the environmental crisis that we’re in today.

TheStoryofClothes.com was born out of my frustration with the lack of progress on climate change that I was seeing at my day jobs in government and academia. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think it’s important to continue writing academic articles and briefing notes about government meetings and initiatives, but I wanted to contribute to seeing the change in a more concrete way. I decided to create this blog for people who don’t have the time, energy or desire to research sustainability. What is greenwashing? Can you really trust all of the claims out there? What’s the best way to live a sustainable life that’s right for me? I hope that this blog will help with answering these questions and more.

I believe that we are on the cusp of enormous change when it comes to fashion in North America. Fast fashion isn’t working. Inhumane working conditions aren’t a good sell. And once you know the truth, you can’t un-know it. Remember when veganism wasn’t widely known? Today, at least in my city, it is VERY well known. I believe that with time, the same type of change will happen in the fashion industry. People will start waking up to the truth, and demand that brands change.

I hope that you enjoy reading this blog! Don’t hesitate to subscribe to be notified of new posts or drop me a line at thestoryofclothes@hotmail.com, I love getting mail 🙂

Happy reading,

Kristina
